Tucumcari has a fair history of being either mentioned or used as a film location in more than a few westerns, movies, and TV shows in addition to Rawhide(1959–1965).
These have included most recently Hell or Highwater (2016) and the wonderful Bands of Enchantment (2021). Yet, in all that time Tucumcari has not had a film festival. Which was surprising to us as it might be to our readers and attendees.
Tucumcari Rawhide Days will hold a film festival as part of its lineup of events beginning in 2022. The festival will feature first and foremost screenings of Rawhide but also feature professional and amateur works from international, national, and local New Mexico filmmakers and creators.
Exact venues and selected content for screenings are to be announced, and are subject to change as we get closer to the event and our selection committee selects some rooting tooting good spectacles for you to watch.
